We were watching a NOVA show recently about a scientist who was both a successful mechanical engineer and a published fiction writer. Although I only watched for a few minutes, what struck me was when asked about how he can be successful in both fields, his response was very practical. He said one never knows when a creative thought is going to happen so one better be at the computer writing to receive the thought when it comes. It reminds me of the saying, Success comes when you are at the right place at the wrong time, the wrong place at the right time, and finally at the right place at the right time.
Another way of saying this is, perseverance counts! I find that when I sit down to type, I have no idea what is gong to come forth. It is this experience that makes it exciting. What are your thoughts?
