Yoga

Yoga is for all of us, flexible and non-flexible; young and old; healthy and sick. It is for all of us who want to understand our true nature and to achieve our highest potential. Yoga can help us to minimize our suffering and to achieve optimal health. A focused mind and a compassionate heart will follow. Your yoga practice will further your journey of self-discovery, it will awaken your senses and vitalize your energy. That energy will enrich your life and it will bring a sense of love and service to others.

The most important equipment you need to practice the yoga asanas (postures) is an open mind. Wait three hours after eating, and be sure your body is hydrated (with water). With practice you will increase your ability to observe and to feel your body. Our daily activities can either improve our well being or add to our suffering. With your commitment and will power to achieve optimal health, your self-awareness and the ability to focus will become greater and distractions will be less attractive.

Your feet should be bare: they will bring you into direct contact with the floor. This will help you to be in the moment and to find your balance. Wear clothes that allow you to move freely. The less clothes the better – no baggy shirts or pants that will get in your way. (A T-shirt falling into your face is distracting.)
